One of the points of the Snake Oil post http://www.pstracks.com/pauls-posts/snake-oil/3548/ was that many times we don't actually know why something is what it is and that's ok. The worst thing manufacturers do (and I've been guilty of it in my younger days) is make up some scientific BS to explain something they don't understand. The Hi Fi Tuning fuses as well as our Critical Link fuses do work and they are frankly quite amazing (I think Hi Fi Tuning are better) but why? I can tell you the sand filled ceramic bodies and gold plating certainly help - but not sure there's much else in the way of an explanation.
